Diabetic Diet Tips
Many diabetic people find it hard to resist things like ice cream, brownies, or cakes covered with syrup. It becomes more challenging if a diabetic person wants to lose weight. Many of us find it difficult to control their temptation of having sweets. However, the reality is that eating sugary foods often leads to significant weight gain. Moreover, only relying on sugar free diet does not guarantee weight loss in case of a diabetic person.
Many sugar free foods contain a large amount of unwanted calories and carbohydrates. Many diabetic people have a belief that they cab lose weight by using sugar substitutes in their diet. Unfortunately, that's not true!, Some sugar alternatives used in the diet increases the intake of both calories as well as carbohydrates. For example, fructose, which is a sugar substitute, adds unwanted calories and carbohydrates in your diet.
But, diabetic people do not need to despair! There still exist a large variety of desserts, which are sugar free as well as delicious. For example, eating sugar free lemon cheesecake is a healthy substitute to the calorie-rich cheesecake. Experts recommend having nearly five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, around 6 servings of breads and cereals, only 2-3 servings of low-fat milk or yogurt, and very small quantity of sweets or desserts.
While dining out, it is a good idea to share a meal or dessert with your partner; else you could be overload with calories. Most of the foods that contain "no sugar added" labels actually contain sugar. In fact many such foods contain as many calories as other types of food. While you can stay healthy if you eat sugar free diet, it is a good idea to follow some more useful tips on losing weight. For example, regular exercise helps you cut down on unwanted fat and calories. In addition, one should never skip breakfast as doing so can be unhealthy for you.

Resveratol and Diabetes
Resveratrol and diabetes does it work? What a great question to ask. I'm sure that those who took part in the study for it would give you a resounding yes.
The study of resveratrol a minute molecular compound that is found in plants has come a long way since it was first examined many years ago.
It is a polyphenol known as a stilbene and has many wonderful properties that in lab animals etc have shown to have had some amazing results in the protection that it can provide.
Resveratrol and diabetes plus obesity are just two of the areas that have been looked at and the unique thing about the diabetic study is that it was the first study to be done on humans. All the other studies that had been carried out on resveratrol had been with lab animals, bacteria etc.
The results for the test came back as being very positive in helping to stabilize the body's energy needs. This meant that it was able to know when and how much sugar to release at any one time making sure that the body keeps its levels of sugar at the right level.
The other benefit that goes hand in hand with that was the fact that the blood sugar balance prevented binge eating so it also becomes extremely useful in treating obesity.
But resveratrol doesn't stop there it provides protection from heart disease and cancer so making sure that you have a small daily amount is very important. The way that I ensure that I have resveratrol every day is by taking it as part of a wonderful combined supplement.
This supplement has over 70 amazing compounds that when blended together give a most powerful synergistic blend to protect the body from the ravages and diseases associated with aging.

Blood Sugar Recording
I will start by exploding a common myth or misconception I have heard from several type 1 or insulin dependent diabetics that states I can tell what my blood sugar is by how I feel. I thought this myself for many years and hence never checked my blood sugar levels! It was not until my annual health screens started to worsen that I actually monitored my sugar on any level and I was very surprised at my readings. There were times when I thought I was right on the money only to actually find out I was extremely high or on other occasions, much lower than I thought. I also had very stable doses that I was giving myself which were pretty much the same dose for each meal and another standard dose before bed. It was not til I started recording my sugar a minimum of 4 times a day and seeing the impact of my standard dose on my levels which depended on so many factors such as exercise, diet and general health just to name a few. To ensure great control and also to tremendously assist in making modifications to insulin doses, what foods work well for you and what don't and additionally, the effect exercise or hard work has on you, you MUST measure (and record) your blood sugar at least 4 times a day. At times when you are ill, physically exerting yourself, trialling or taking new medicines or simply on a comprehensive testing program to gage where you are at, do not think testing your blood sugar even as much as 8 times a day is excessive. As with all research, the more data you have, the better informed you are and in turn the better results you can expect. Taking and strictly recording a 4 week block of 4 readings a day before each main meal in conjunction with a food diary, exercise diary and insulin injection details will give you a fantastic snapshot of how well your diabetes is controlled. Taking this information package with you to a doctor, dietician or diabetes specialist or educator will not only knock their socks off at your dedication and self care but more importantly, give them all the information they need to fully analyse your condition and give you the best recommendations of what you should do next and what changes would be beneficial to you. At the end of the day, pin pricking your fingers 3 or 4 times a day can be painful, annoying and at times, tedious however like anything repeated, it will become a habit and if you stick with it, before long your sub-conscious will have you reaching for the testing kit before you take your first mouthful of your meal every time. The benefits you will achieve however such as feeling great, having more energy and a longer life without diabetic complications or symptoms far outweigh the maintenance you must undergo.
